Prokofiev’s stirring score Alexander Nevsky was composed for Sergey Eisenstein’s 1938 cinematic thriller and stands as a spectacular masterpiece for chorus and orchestra.

 

Sergei Prokofiev’s stirring score, Alexander Nevsky, was composed for Sergey Eisenstein’s 1938 cinematic thriller.  Depicting exhilarating battles and victories, Prokofiev’s work stands as a spectacular masterpiece for chorus and orchestra. Declared by The New York Times as “an absolute whiz at the piano,” Van Cliburn Competition winner Olga Kern returns to perform Shostakovich’s Piano Concerto No. 1. This witty and youthful work displays Kern’s outstanding skill and prominently features the talent of NAC principal trumpet Karen Donnelly.
